Feline Panleukopenia Virus (FPV) Detection Kit
Introduction
Feline Panleukopenia (FP), also known as feline distemper or feline parvoviral disease, is an acute and highly contagious infectious disease caused by Feline Panleukopenia Virus (FPV). The disease primarily affects felids, with kittens, unvaccinated cats, and immunocompromised cats being particularly susceptible. Infected cats commonly present with sudden high fever, persistent vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, circulatory disturbances, and a marked decrease in white blood cell count.
FPV is highly contagious and resistant to environmental conditions. The disease can progress rapidly and may result in a high mortality rate, especially in unvaccinated kittens, posing significant challenges for disease prevention and control in veterinary clinics, catteries, and stray cat rescue organizations. Timely and accurate detection of FPV infection can support early isolation, treatment, and disinfection measures, thereby reducing the risk of viral transmission.
This kit uses specific primers and fluorescent probes targeting conserved regions of the FPV genome, providing good specificity and sensitivity. It is suitable for the auxiliary diagnosis of feline panleukopenia, screening of suspected cases, epidemiological investigations, and health monitoring of cat populations. Test results should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical signs, vaccination history, pathological findings, and other laboratory test results.
