Introduction

Mycoplasma felis (MF) is an important pathogen associated with feline conjunctivitis and respiratory disease. It may be present in the conjunctiva and upper respiratory tract of cats and can cause clinical signs in susceptible animals, including conjunctival hyperemia, increased ocular discharge, keratitis, lower respiratory tract infections, and polyarthritis. Because feline conjunctivitis and ocular discharge may result from multiple causes, including Chlamydia, feline calicivirus, bacteria, fungi, or allergies, it is difficult to make an accurate differential diagnosis based on clinical signs alone, which may affect subsequent treatment decisions.

The SunshinyMed Mycoplasma felis PCR Detection Kit uses real-time fluorescent PCR technology, with primers and fluorescent probes designed to target MF-specific conserved gene regions. It can be used for the rapid detection of MF nucleic acid in clinical samples such as feline conjunctival swabs, nasal swabs, and ocular secretions. Compared with conventional culture, staining, and serological testing, the kit offers a simpler workflow, shorter turnaround time, and good specificity and sensitivity. It supports the early identification of MF infection and provides reliable evidence for the accurate diagnosis of feline conjunctivitis and respiratory disease, rational treatment selection, and feline population health management.
