Introduction

Feline herpesvirus (FHV) is an important pathogen that causes respiratory and ocular infections in cats and is the primary causative agent of feline viral rhinotracheitis (FVR). The virus can be transmitted through contact with ocular and nasal secretions, saliva, or contaminated objects. After entering the cat’s body, it rapidly replicates in the epithelial cells of the nasal cavity, nasopharynx, and conjunctival mucosa, causing clinical signs such as sneezing, nasal discharge, conjunctivitis, and increased ocular discharge. Kittens are at greater risk of developing severe disease, and serious infections may lead to pneumonia or even death.

The Feline Herpesvirus (FHV) Real-Time PCR Detection Kit is intended for the qualitative in vitro detection of FHV nucleic acid in clinical samples. The kit is designed to target specific genetic sequences of feline herpesvirus, enabling broad detection of different viral strains while minimizing the risk of cross-reactivity with other pathogens. It offers high sensitivity, strong specificity, and rapid detection.
