Canine distemper virus (CDV) Detection Kit

The Canine Distemper Virus (CDV) PCR is a molecular test used to detect the genetic material of the virus in a dog's body. Because CDV can be difficult to diagnose based solely on clinical signs, which often mimic other respiratory or gastrointestinal illnesses, RT-PCR (Reverse Transcription-PCR) is considered the gold standard diagnostic tool.

Introduction

Canine distemper virus (CDV) is a single-stranded RNA virus belonging to the family Paramyxoviridae. It can infect dogs, ferrets, and a variety of wild animals. The virus is highly contagious and may cause fever, depression, loss of appetite, increased ocular and nasal discharge, as well as respiratory and gastrointestinal symptoms. Some infected animals may also develop neurological signs, including encephalomyelitis. Despite widespread vaccination in many regions, canine distemper remains one of the major infectious diseases threatening canine health.

The clinical manifestations of canine distemper are complex and may be easily confused with other respiratory, gastrointestinal, or neurological diseases. CDV infection should be considered particularly in unvaccinated dogs, dogs with an unknown vaccination history, or dogs presenting with multisystemic signs involving the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and neurological systems. Timely and accurate pathogen detection is essential for early diagnosis, isolation, disease management, and transmission control.

The Canine Distemper Virus (CDV) Detection Kit uses real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) technology to specifically detect CDV RNA in clinical samples. Featuring high sensitivity, strong specificity, and rapid detection, the kit can be used for the laboratory diagnosis, pathogen screening, and epidemiological surveillance of canine distemper virus infection, providing reliable support for effective disease prevention and control.
